Look & Feel Sexy at Sex Week
by Rachel Weingarten
As a nation, we’re more than a bit obsessed with sex, and through the years it's been reflected in our popular culture. From seminal books like “Sex and the Single Girl” by Helen Gurley Brown, to iconic TV shows like “Sex and the City,” to our own Sex Week at Yale—we’ve definitely got sex on the brain! Hey, I’m even guilty of it—the first sentence in my new book is “Sex sells.” Or so the advertising world would have you believe.
Even if we aren’t actually in flagrante, apparently we sure want to look like we are. One of the top selling blush colors in America is Orgasm by Nars, which mimics that certain unmistakable sexy flush that comes after reaching the big “O”. TIGI hair care offers their own libidinous options. Bedhead shampoo, mousses, gels and sprays which are meant to make you (or at least your hair!) look like you’ve been getting busy—even if you’ve only been busy studying…
Whether or not you have someone to hook up with over Sex Week, these tantalizing tips will have you looking and feeling like a sex god or sex goddess in no time flat:
Feel Sexy - Okay, it seems overly simplified, but you don’t have to rely on a magazine, movie or TV show to tell you who is or isn’t beautiful. Did you ever notice how the sexiest girls in the room aren’t necessarily the prettiest? They’re sweet, quirky and confident (Hello Ashlee Simpson, Rachel Bilson and Reese Witherspoon!) which is invariably sexier to the opposite sex than beautiful but empty or annoying. Cute (or smart) but not perfect boys tend to get my attention—I know that I'd prefer hot and funny Chris Evans, or take charge/sensitive guy Matthew Fox over way too pretty Brad Pitt any day of the week. Get into a sexy state of mind by spoiling yourself with long baths using sexy shower gels (Dirty Girl by Blue Q and Romance Bubbles by Pure Romance are two of my faves) cute panties and push-up bras (seriously, how hot do you feel when you’re wearing a granny bra and grayish panties with frayed elastic?) – whatever makes you feel better about you. If you’re a jeans and t-shirt chick, don’t try to force yourself into a poufy prom dress—you’ll look silly and feel even worse.
